Military leave and reinstatement will be granted in accordance with federal and state law. Under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, an employee may request leave for required or voluntary military service and/or training. An employee who needs to take military leave must give advance notice of their service obligations to their supervisor, unless military necessity makes advance notice impossible. Military orders should be presented to the supervisor and arrangements for leave made as early as possible before the beginning of leave. Such leave is unpaid unless the employee chooses to make use of available vacation accrual. (Retaliation against employees who request leave under this policy is strictly prohibited.
